First Visit – What to Expect

What do I need to do to prepare for my appointment? 

You’ll need to complete a health history form. You can download this form HERE.

You can send the completed form to our email info@smilesbypocock.com. If you are not able to, you are welcome to fill out the health history form in the office on your first visit. 

What should I bring to the first appointment? 

You don’t need to bring anything, just come on time, bring your smile and clean teeth and we will take care of the rest.

How do I get to Smiles by Pocock? 

We are located at #600- 224 West Esplanade, North Vancouver, in Lower Lonsdale, close to the Sea bus.  We have some complimentary parking which is located off Semisch Avenue in the parking garage.  See the diagram and our video here.  You can park in any spot with Dr. Pocock’s name on it. 

Is there a cost for the consultation?  

The initial consultation is complimentary.  We have dedicated 90 minutes of time to you.  If for some reason you need to reschedule, please allow as much time as possible for us to schedule another patient to be seen.

What happens during the consultation?

1. The treatment coordinator will take an x-ray and a series of photos of your teeth which allow us to make a proper diagnosis for you. If you have had this X-Ray taken elsewhere, no older than a year we are happy to request it for you.
2. Dr. Pocock will provide a thorough exam and discuss his  recommendations. 
3. You will be shown samples of the appliances you might wear, and you will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  This is an information session so that everybody has a good understanding of what and how things will happen. This way you can make an educated decision. 
4. The Treatment coordinator will provide the fee, and payment options and she will prepare all necessary paperwork for you. 
5. We are happy to provide you with appointments if you decide to proceed with treatment.  

FAQ

Am I able to start right away?  

Yes! Some procedures we can start right away if our schedule permits.

How often will I have to come for appointments?

There are usually a few appointments to get started, after that we generally see you every 6-10 weeks.

Does it hurt?

From time to time your teeth will be tender, especially at the beginning of your treatment.  Before too long you will be used to your new appliance, and it will feel quite comfortable.  

How long does it take?

Depending on your age, most treatments are on average 12-24 months.
